5th District

Libbi Urban – Democrat

Hi, I’m Libbi Urban, a steelworker, wife, and stepmom. I’ve lived in southern Michigan for 28 years, and I’m running for Congress to provide real leadership and give a voice to my neighbors in the 5th District. Growing up on my grandparents’ farm in Carroll County, Indiana, I learned the value of hard work, resilience, and family. Losing the farm after my grandfather’s and uncle’s passing taught me how fragile life can be for working families, and it inspired me to advocate for those who face similar challenges.

After graduating from Indiana State University with a degree in electronics technology, I began working as a maintenance electrician at the I/N Kote steel mill in Michigan. My role in the United Steelworkers union, where I was elected vice president and served on the negotiating team, gave me the experience and determination to fight for better wages, healthcare, job security, and family benefits. Now, I want to bring that same passion and commitment to Congress, ensuring southern Michigan’s working people have a representative who is fierce, fearless, and fair.
