Shondreka Lott grew up listening to the radio with her family. Included were songs often played on WGVU Real Oldies and Saturday Night Blues. “Coming from a soulful background, all these songs evoke many good feelings with their melodies,” she said.
Shondreka is currently a returning student at Grand Rapids Community College with plans to transfer to Grand Valley State University. Like many other Americans, when Shondreka had a gap in employment, Michigan Works advised her to volunteer in her field to gain experience and keep her resume fresh. Lucky for WGVU she chose to spend her volunteer time committing to our cause. During her time volunteering at WGVU, she has answered phones during membership drives, served as an ambassador at WGVU KidsDay at the Zoo, and hosted at wine events. Her time volunteering at WGVU has been a win-win situation for our organization and for her. Giving Shondreka the benefits of being a help to her community, while also allowing WGVU to take advantage of an extra hand that’s always appreciated with the ongoing work we do in the community.
Shondreka’s plans are not clear, but whatever she does it will be a contribution to others, as she loves to serve. WGVU is pleased to have her aboard our volunteer team.
