MARIE BYL

Marie has been a Volunteer WGVU Member Correspondent since June 2010. As a WGVU Member Correspondent, Marie comes to the station twice monthly to contact WGVU members and thank them for their contribution.  Serving in this capacity, Marie has had an opportunity to get to know our members, our staff and her fellow volunteers.

When it comes to volunteering, Marie has extensive experience.  She has volunteered for Hospice of Michigan for 20 years. Marie has been involved in the American Cancer Society Relay for Life, GR since its inception in 2005, even serving as chairperson of the entire event in 2008. She has volunteered at the Grand Rapids Home for Veterans since 1995.  Every Sunday for the last 15 years she can be found wheeling patients to church services at Kent Community Hospital.  These are just a few of the many organizations that Marie is committed to help.

Marie worked at Grand Rapids Community College for 22 years, retiring in 2010 as Head Cashier. She has also worked in the areas of tax preparation and insurance.  She is the mother to four children.
