Ken oversees programming including news and public affairs, local productions, traffic plus new and evolving technologies for WGVU television, radio, dot org, mobile and other digital platforms. Ken has worked at WGVU since 1995, he started as News Director and his current position is Assistant General Manager. He previously worked as a reporter and News Director at WZZM-TV in Grand Rapids. Ken is also an adjunct professor in the School of Communications at Grand Valley State University.
Ken has nearly 40 years of broadcast and management experience. The National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences inducted him into its exclusive “Silver Circle” in 2007 for his more than 25 years of outstanding service and leadership in the television broadcast community. In 2008, the Michigan Association of Public Broadcasters honored Ken with their prestigious “Pioneer Award” for fostering innovation and inspiring creativity among public broadcasters. He has also won numerous Emmys and other awards for his news and documentary productions.
Ken is married, has two adult sons and has lived in West Michigan for most of his life. He holds a BAA in Broadcast and Cinematic Arts from Central Michigan University and an MBA degree from Grand Valley State University.
