Barbara Christl began working at WGVU in January 1995 as Business Accountant. “Growing up in the Chicago area, I developed a love for accounting my junior year in high school and never swayed from that goal. I graduated with a degree in accounting from DePaul University and then left Chicago for the “land of fruits and nuts” (California), says Barbara.
Although having done various accounting jobs in her many years, she always ends up back in some form of communication. She said, “I spent 5 years in Chicago working for a company with 2 AM stations, 1 FM station and a tower leasing business; I spent 7 years with Cox Cable in Santa Barbara; and, I spent one year working for TCI Cable before getting the job of my life at WGVU!”
“I spent my free time raising my daughter, Laura, and taking care of our housemates: a dog named Chance and two cats named Mocha and Ashes. I am planning on traveling extensively, as well as volunteering, when I retire in a few years. Working at WGVU made me see how important it is to volunteer for causes you believe in. I think I’ll be just as busy after retirement as I have during the rest of my life,” said Barbara.
